For my BlueNC friends,FYI: I will be scarce & out of pocket for a few days.

I am a bit shook up right now so I ask forgiveness if i make any type-os.
He is keeping this low key but all of you are my friends and I felt you also had a right to know about this.

My Adoptive Dad beat node & skin cancer that almost killed him back in the 60's. Well, Mom decided to finally tell me tonight, He has been diagnosed with cancer again! I just got thru getting word to Heath Shuler & Hayden Rogers at that campain as Dad thinks the absolute world of them.

I think dad knows every pass & touchdown Heath ever made! Not bad for the starting offensive tackle on the first football team Robbinsville had. That was back when they wore them funny little leather helments. To be honest with you, stickin to the facts.

N&O's Rick Martinez Shills for Puppetmaster. Again.

You'd think the N&O could find an independent columnist who didn't dance to the tune of Art Pope, But alas, the strings that control Rick Martinez are completely visible for all to see. His recent column is nothing more than a rewrite of the latest John Locke Foundation "report" on smart growth, which, itself, is a bad rehashing of propaganda put out by the right wing American Dream Coalition of builders, contractors and slum lords. Here's an excerpt:

The problem with Smart Growth is that it's nostalgia-based. It harkens back to a time when people could work, shop, live and worship in the same neighborhood. That model worked well 100 years ago, before the emergence of the car, but it's ill-suited to a society where personal space often trumps community.

Nostalgia based? Ya mean like 99% of the crap that spews from his newspaper column? This is typical of the hypocrisy of Pope's Puppets as they march toward recreating North Carolina to fit their own free-market fantasies. The fact is, these people hate planning and they hate government and they'll do anything they can to stack the deck in favor of business, no matter how much damage it does to the environment and the common good.

I'm Off

For the weekend. I canned a post for later this morning -- let's see whether that publishes as planned. I'll try to check in once in a while, so NO PARTIES!

Vernon and the FEC

Jay Ovittore has discovered some very interesting information about Vernon Robinson's campaign contributions. It seems that 10 contributors to Vernon's campaign gave more than the legal limit. Jay has filed a complaint with the FEC and if you visit his site you can see the letter the FEC sent in response.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, Jay! My favorite line from his blog:

My whole point of this and my other attacks on Robinson for Congress is, why would you vote for someone who wants to go to Washington and make laws, yet in the campaign stage can not follow the existing laws themselves?

VA's Notification Leter to Veterans on Stolen Data

I still cannot figure out just how exactly the VA knows just who will be affected by this! Mabie they have hired every psychic & Tarot Card reader in the nation!

VA’s Notification to Veterans

Dear Veteran:
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has recently learned that an employee took home electronic data from VA, which he was not authorized to do and was in violation of established policies. The employee’s home was burglarized and this data was stolen. The data contained identifying information including names, social security numbers, and dates of birth for up to 26.5 million veterans and some spouses, as well as some disability ratings. As a result of this incident, information identifiable with you was potentially exposed to others. It is important to note that the affected data did not include any of VA’s electronic health records or any financial information.

Thank You BlueNC!

Greetings again to all my friends in the NC blogosphere. I just wanted to take a minute this afternoon to wrap up a very exciting week for the campaign and thank all of you that have blessed my run with your attention, support and tireless efforts.

What a week! BlueNC breaking our incredible poll numbers was just the beginning.

Thanks in no small part to the indomitable spirit and savvy of one Southern Dem, the national attention on our too-long overlooked, about-to-turn-blue chunk of North Carolina is exploding.
